A little preparation makes firewall setup quick and painless, whether you set it up yourself or have our engineers do it. Here is what to have ready.
1. Your internet details
Have your internet provider’s details on hand: the service type, any static IP addresses they assigned you, and the login or modem information for the connection. The firewall sits between this connection and your network, so these details come first.
2. Your network layout
Sketch out how your network is organised: the main office network, any separate networks for guests, point-of-sale or specific departments, and roughly how many devices are on each. If you want staff and guest traffic kept apart, note that now — it is set up on the firewall.
3. Who needs remote access
List the people who need to reach the office network from home or on the road, and whether any other offices need a site-to-site connection. This defines the VPN access the firewall provides.
4. Choose how it gets set up
Decide this in the product box when you order:
- Set it up yourself — free.
- Pre-configured & shipped ($395, one-time) — your Firebox ships to our office first, our certified engineers configure it for your network, and we ship it to you ready to plug in.
- WatchGuard remote installation ($595, one-time).
- On-site install ($799, one-time) — our engineers install it at your location in New York and New Jersey.
If you chose “Pre-configured & shipped”
We will reach out for your network details after you order, set the Firebox up for your network, and ship it ready to go. The more of the above you have ready when we ask, the faster it ships.
