Start with one Firebox per location
You need one Firebox per office location. If you have several offices, each gets its own, and WatchGuard branch VPNs link them together securely. Larger models support more branch VPNs, so the number of sites you connect is one thing that pushes you up the range.
Tabletop or rackmount?
Tabletop Fireboxes sit on a desk or shelf and suit small and mid-size offices, up to about 100 people. Rackmount Fireboxes mount in a standard 19-inch server rack and are built for larger offices, from roughly 100 up to a couple of thousand people, with multi-gig and 10 Gb ports.
Tabletop models, by team size
- Firebox T115 Wireless — a home office or a very small team. Wi-Fi 7 is built in.
- Firebox T125 — up to 25 users. A small office or branch that needs full-scan protection. Wi-Fi optional.
- Firebox T145 — up to 50 users. A growing office or store that needs more headroom. Wi-Fi optional.
- Firebox T185 — up to 100 users. A busy office with heavy traffic and many devices.
Rackmount models, by team size
- Firebox M295 — up to 100 users; an entry rackmount for offices moving to a server rack.
- Firebox M395 — up to 250 users.
- Firebox M495 — up to 500 users.
- Firebox M595 — up to 1,200 users.
- Firebox M695 — up to 2,000 users; the top of the M Series, for headquarters and data-center-grade networks.
No box? Go virtual or cloud
If your servers live in a data center or the public cloud, you can run the same firewall as software. FireboxV runs on your own VMware, Hyper-V or KVM servers; Firebox Cloud runs in your AWS or Azure account. Both are sized Small, Medium and Large, and you use one per network.

Pick the model that covers your team today with a little room to grow.
