Replacing an ageing SonicWall with a WatchGuard Firebox does not mean rebuilding your firewall rules from scratch. WatchGuard offers a migration service that moves your existing configuration onto the new appliance, so the switch is planned rather than improvised.
What the migration service covers
The SonicWall migration service ($595, one-time) is an add-on you tick in any Firebox product box. WatchGuard takes your existing SonicWall configuration and moves it onto your new Firebox, so your rules, policies and network setup carry over.
How to plan the switch
- Pick the right Firebox. Match the model to your team size and traffic — see Which Firebox fits your office? If your current SonicWall is a few years old, the equivalent WatchGuard is usually clear from the user count.
- Choose your suite and term. Basic or Total Security, for one, three or five years. See Basic vs Total Security.
- Add the migration service in the product box, plus any setup help you want.
- Plan the cutover. Have your internet details and network layout ready (see Before your Firebox arrives) so the new Firebox can go live with minimal downtime.
